"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
|
Children are very important to everyone at Fisher
Lutheran. It is our goal to teach them by keeping
their interest with hands-on learning and that they
enjoy Sunday School while learning something new
each week. Sunday School is at 10:00 a.m. each
Sunday. Rally Sunday kicks off the year in September
and a Family Sunday School Day brings the year to a
close in May. Children present a Christmas program
each year and also meet in the summer for fun activities
and fellowship. |

Faith Stepping Stones
At baptism, the child receives a collection of bible passages to remind parents of their responsibility to teach their child about God. At the age of 3, children receive a Toddler Bible with favorite bible stories to prepare them for Sunday School the following year. 3rd grade children receive a personalized student bible to encourage spiritual growth through reading His Word.
Nursery
During Sunday morning services, childcare is provided for small children by adult caregivers or teenage assistants in a safe environment. Storytelling, music, art projects and videos help make the child’s visit to the nursery more enjoyable. Art creations are hung with pride on the nursery bulletin board.

Age 4 through 6th Grade
Each week, children gather in the sanctuary where they offer their praise through songs and offering. Children celebrate their baptism anniversaries and are encouraged to support the monthly mission request. We use the rotation style of teaching so that the children will experience bible stories for several weeks through crafts, cooking, games, video/discussion, and memorization. Sometimes children work on special projects for the holidays or for the congregation.
The confirmation ministry begins in the 6th grade when children receive instruction for participation in Holy Communion. Holy Communion then becomes a means of strengthening their faith as they grow in God’s grace. Children who have not yet received pre-communion instruction are always welcome to come forward during the communion distribution and receive a special blessing from the pastor. |

Jr. High (7th, 8th, and 9th)
The Jr. High Students meet separately for devotions. An offering is received. They sometimes practice leadership skills throughout the year by assisting the younger students with special projects.
In the 7th grade, the children are given a home study course daily readings from the Bible, discussion questions for the family and a memory assignment from the Small Catechism each week. 8th and 9th graders meet in a class with the pastor about 60 times over the two years. The program also contains Christian service components. Youth are confirmed in the spring of the 9th grade. On Confirmation Day they publicly profess their Christian faith and their intention of continuing, by the help of God, to live a Christian life within the fellowship of the Church.
Sr. High (10th, 11th, and 12th)
The Sr. High Students also meet separately in the study to discuss Christian views of current events and movies including topics such as war, relationships, teenage Christianity. An offering is received. They are asked to practice leadership skills throughout the year by assisting the younger students with special projects.
Luther League
The Youth organization is called the Luther League. Some of their outreach activities have included selling Advent wreaths, serving supper fellowships after midweek Lenten services, and collecting food for the local food shelf. They share fellowship through activities such as skiing, bowling, and attending synod-sponsored events.
Announcements/Correspondence
The Fisher Sunday School Snippets is a section in the monthly newsletter that keeps families up-to-date with current events taking place. The Sunday School also places announcements and children’s artwork on the bulletin board by the kitchen. E-mail is also used for correspondence.
Volunteers/Teachers
Parents and members of the congregation are invited to share their gifts with the children through teaching, storytelling, singing, puppetry, etc. Together we can all make a positive influence in our children’s spiritual growth! |
